WIC Program

WIC is the USDA Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. The WIC Program provides four key services services to pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and children up to five-years old:

  • WIC Foods: Monthly nutritious supplemental foods including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt, peanut butter, beans, cereal, juice, infant foods and formula.
  • Breastfeeding Support: Breastfeeding education, support and counseling, and breast pumps and accessories to qualifying participants.
  • Nutrition Education: Nutrition information including tools and solutions for parenting, nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.
  • Health Care Referrals: Personalized referrals to health services and other community resources.

To be eligible for WIC, you must:

  • Be a pregnant, postpartum (up to 6 months) or breastfeeding (up to one year) woman, or an infant or child up to age five.
  • Be a Nevada resident.
  • Meet income guidelines either through active participation in Medicaid, TANF, SNAP or through household income (check the Income Guildines for Eligibility on the Nevada WIC website).

A non-citizen to the United States will not be deported, denied entry to the country, or denied permanent status because they receive or received WIC benefits. Receiving WIC does not affect an individual’s immigration status and does not affect a non-citizen’s ability to become a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

The WIC Program is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.

USDA Nondiscrimination Statement: (English) (Spanish) To file a complaint of discrimination, write to: USDA, Director, Center for Civil Rights Enforcement, 1400 Independence Avenue, SW, Washington, D.C. 20250-9410.

WIC is funded by the USDA through the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services in partnership with local agencies. There is no cost to eligible participants.
